Financial Service Representative

Job Purpose                                                                                                                                       

Serve as a liaison between the member and the credit union. Provide account information as well as information on the full range of credit union products and services. Open accounts, perform loan application interviews, and professionally handle the memberís daily needs. Provide a variety of transaction services to members including loan processing, loan funding and disclosure, account maintenance, and account transactions.

Essential Functions:  (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.)                    

  • Deliver Personal WOW Service to all members and staff and embody Pima Federal Credit Unionís Shared Values and Common Purpose.  Promote a teamwork atmosphere.
  • Greet and welcome members and visitors to the credit union in a courteous, professional and timely manner. Guide members entering the Wow Zone and help them navigate the Financial Center.   
  • Provide comprehensive, confidential, and efficient member transaction processing including, but not limited to: deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, account verification, certificate of deposit transactions, payment processing, HELOC and Mortgage payments, HELOC advances, line of credit advances and shared branching transactions for guest members.
  • Receive and process Night Depository transactions in dual control on a daily basis.
  • Balance transactions and cash to computer generated teller totals. Research and resolve discrepancies. Assist in overall Financial Center end of day balancing.
  • Open new membership accounts.  Service existing membership accounts. Provide members with Welcome Packet including all required State and Federal regulatory disclosures, including but not limited to Reg DD and CIP. Assist members in identifying additional account needs.
  • Qualify prospective members for membership by reviewing SEG list and identifying underserved membership qualifiers.
  • Support organic membership growth through community involvement and active credit union promotion.
  • Follow established onboarding procedures for all new memberships and subsequent account and loan relationships. 
  • Respond to account inquiries and assist members in completing stop payments, check orders, direct deposit, address changes, loan coupons, fraud and dispute, wire transfers, and other member/account maintenance forms.  Assist members with plastic card orders and inquiries.
  • Perform loan interviews, submit loan applications, obtain supplemental information and verification for loan decisioning, offer credit counseling, and assist members in identifying additional loan needs.
  • Fund and disburse loans, disclose required loan agreements in accordance with Reg B, Reg Z and other applicable regulations and board approved policies, prepare and audit loan files, perform loan maintenance.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products, services, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Appropriately respond to member requests, problems and complaints.  Resolve issues involving members independently, evaluating for management assistance and clearly communicating member needs. Ensure suitable resolution and follow up.
  • Educate members on benefits of credit union solutions; refer credit union products and services as appropriate.  Assist members in identifying products and services that will add value to their membership.
  • Maintain physical security of credit union owned property and technology by following established procedures.
  • Educate members on technology available to them in the Financial Center.  Assist members with navigating online tools and services available to them to enhance the member relationship.  
  • Serve as a Notary Public, observing all relevant State Laws.  Maintain Notary Public qualification by following all Notary Public statutes with strict adherence, including but not limited to documentation and tracking.
  • Saturday hours assigned on a rotational basis.
  • Maintain cash recyclers, coin machine, cash counter, Check 21 scanner and software, and other equipment to ensure proper function and usage.  Access all required areas in dual control, strictly adhering to established dual control procedures.
  • Seek and pursue continuous learning opportunities to enhance the overall member experience.  Attend staff meetings, trainings, and special activities as required. 
  • Responsible for successfully meeting assigned benchmarks according to seniority and position.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months cash handling experience.
  • One year of financial institution experience as Teller or Member Service Representative. 
  • Intermediate level proficiency with computers and software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel to different branch locations and various training or networking events.
  • Working knowledge of Symitar (Episys) preferred.
  • Bilingual Ė English/Spanish (preferred)

Compliance Responsibilities

  • Understands and adheres to legacy Pima Federal compliance standards as they appear in the Risk Management Information and Security Policies, Employee Handbook, and Security Policies.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal, state, and Pima Federal regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified; Understands and adheres to BSA/OFAC regulations and standards and attends all required training.
