Job Purpose                                                                                                                                      

Responsible for identifying mortgage products and retail products to members and consumers in the community. Pre-approve mortgage applicants to determine appropriate loan products. Review, analyze and submit mortgage loan requests in conformance with credit union, industry and regulatory guidelines. Maintain emphasis on response time, quantity of applications processed and quality of applications approved.

Essential Functions:  (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.)                            

  • Use interpersonal and communication skills to generate referral business, leads, and relationships with  our Financial Center partners, existing members and external business partners, with an emphasis on Realtors
  • Actively participate in community and Real Estate industry networking events to positively represent the Credit Union brand and products
  • Create, implement and adapt a marketing business plan for lead development for both internal and external referral sources
  • Participate in training for internal and external partners in areas of marketing, sales, and techniques to effectively sell, package, and close consumer mortgages
  • Take thorough and complete loan applications; analyze and pre-approve applicant information to determine viability of the member's desired loan program
  • Analyze credit, income and supporting documentation. Compare for accuracy with the mortgage borrower's statements. Correct inaccuracies and determine the correct loan options for the borrower based upon the applicant's present situation, future plans, and preferred loan product
  • Provide guidance and information relevant to the risks and benefits of each program the applicant is qualified for; effectively explain and communicate the terms of each product and ensure all documents necessary are signed by the borrower
  • Gather all initial documentation required based upon the applicant's selected loan program and the 1003 including all disclosure requirements
  • Ensure compliance with delivering the Loan Estimate, Closing Disclosure and other required program disclosures
  • Set expectations for internal and external business partners for timely review and closing of all Mortgage products
  • Provide quality loan packages to the loan processor for review. Work with the loan processor to provide additional documentation as required by underwriting to clear conditions for loan approval
  • Protect Credit Union security interests through implementation of government regulations and internal policies, throughout the life of the loan
  • Update rate information and product information as needed
  • Act as liaison between member, mortgage processing personnel and Realtor.  Contact member for additional requirements and answer member inquiries about the mortgage process
  • Attend loan closings at title companies to develop relationships for repeat business.
  • Cross-sell credit union products and services
  • Keep abreast of all mortgage related regulatory and secondary market requirements.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with new realtors, builders and brokers.
  • Proactively seeks new business relationships with internal and external partners

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of mortgage origination experience
  • Experience with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, Construction/Perm and 2nd Mortgage Products
  • Understanding of mortgage products and processes
  • Ability to work independently and implement a marketing strategy to achieve desired production results
  • Ability to take accurate and thorough loan applications
  • Working knowledge of credit reports, DTI, LTV, and CLTV ratios
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to travel to different branch locations and various training or networking events
  • Bachelorís degree in business, finance or economics preferred
  • SAFE ACT Registered preferred, eligibility for SAFE ACT Registration required
  • Proficiency with Mortgage LOS
  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish preferred, but not required

Compliance Responsibilities

  • Understands and adheres to legacy Pima Federal compliance standards as they appear in the Risk Management Information and Security Policies, Employee Handbook, and Security Policies.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal, state, and Pima Federal regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified; Understands and adheres to BSA/OFAC regulations and standards and attends all required training.
